First Age Of Gods

There blew no water

through the first Age of Gods.

And no light sang.

No labyrinth trolled

before sorrow was measured on the cliffs.

It was some euphoric god’s howl,

a cloudless bark,

that roused the light’s first urge.

Light’s first urge was a glance into water.

It was light that beamed water toward existence.

A translucid branch loosed the river.

And the stones of lowered light aged the water.

It was on a day when the gods

grazed near a bronze sun,

and sang a thousand roads below their loft,

that night broke its first eon,

and death from the light, by light, dawned.

And the buoyancy of the Void spawned love.

The sun took flight from stone.

And the long water flocked.
